Inspiration

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

Henry David Thoreau

Welcome to The Boondocker.

Equal parts adventurer, minimalist and environmentalist…a boondocker is someone who conscientiously enjoys nature, usually off-grid with a minimal footprint, in remote areas in their quest for freedom and solitude from society.

Boondocking is a way of life. It’s a commitment to both yourself and to Mother Earth. It’s a philosophy that challenges one to live simply, minimally and adventurously. Boondocking takes its roots in the wisdom of pioneers like Henry David Thoreau, John Muir and Siddhata Gautama (Buddha) to name a few.

We are here to help you learn about the boondocking lifestyle, help you on your journey for personal growth and to encourage you to get outside and have an adventure.

Consume Less…Live More!

About Us

Boondocker  ˈbün-ˌdäk er  :
noun / slang

A person who conscientiously enjoys nature, usually off-grid with a minimal footprint, in remote areas in their quest for freedom and solitude from society.

I am a self-made businessman who gave up a modern waterfront condo in Miami, an Italian sportscar and a six-digit annually profiting business to live in a van and travel the world. Once I had considerable and consistent success in real estate and bought a few toys I realized quite quickly that the things that made me happiest weren’t things at all. Subsequently, the more accumulated things I got rid of the happier I became. As got rid of things and became more minimalist I began to challenge myself to see just how small of a footprint I could make. Once I realized that this newfound minimalist lifestyle fit well with my thirst for travel a plan was born:

I would travel the world in a van, relying on solar power, consuming a plant based diet, spending frugally and living adventurously in mostly remote natural locations. I would volunteer in as many places as I could along the way as a way of giving back to the community (and also my way of canceling the carbon footprint of my Eco Diesel engine). All of these things would be an experiment to see just how small of a footprint I could make while living a life big with adventure. Small Footprint…Big Adventure.
