Who operates this assistant?
The AI assistant is a service offered by The Boondocker (theboondocker.com). Data processing takes place on servers that we operate directly, with the exception of the generation of responses by artificial intelligence, described below.
What data is collected?
When you use the assistant, we record the following information in our database:
- Your messages — the text of each question you ask.
- The generated responses—the full text produced by the assistant, including cited sources.
- Your member ID is associated with each conversation, allowing your history to be displayed.
- Your feedback — 👍 / 👎 votes and comments submitted via the report form.
- Technical data—timestamps, the AI model used, generation times, and cost estimates (for internal tracking purposes).
We do not collect your IP address in readable form — if it is stored, it is stored as a cryptographic hash, for security purposes only.
How is your data used?
Your conversations may be used for the following purposes:
- Answering your questions — this is the primary, immediate use.
- Improving the quality of the assistant—The Boondocker team may review conversations to identify issues, documentation gaps, or unexpected AI behaviour. This access is limited to the internal team.
- Analyzing usage — aggregated statistics on the most-viewed topics, filters used, response times, etc.
Your conversations are not shared publicly, sold, or used for advertising purposes.
Artificial intelligence provider
The assistant’s responses are generated by Claude, a language model developed by Anthropic (anthropic.com), a company based in the United States. Your messages are sent to Anthropic to generate a response, in accordance with Anthropic’s terms of use and privacy policy.
Anthropic acts as a data processor: your data is sent to it solely to generate the response and, under our commercial agreement, is not used to train their public models.
Data retention
Your conversations are retained while your account is active so you can view your history. They remain in your account as long as you keep them, and you may delete them at your convenience. Such deletion is irreversible.
Your rights
- Delete a conversation — you can delete any conversation directly from the assistant’s interface. Deletion is permanent.
- Request deletion of your account and data—contact us at [email protected].
- If you have any questions or concerns, please write to us at any time regarding your data.
We adhere to the personal information protection principles set out in applicable legislation, including Quebec’s Law 25, Canada’s PIPEDA, and Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have, in particular, the right to access, correct, delete, and withdraw consent regarding your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
